Step 1: Sign in with Google (with GA access)¶
Sign in using the Google account that already has access to the GA4 property for the site you want to test.
Wrong Google account?
If you don’t see your GA4 properties later, you likely signed in with the wrong Google account. Use “Use different account” in the GA step to sign out and switch accounts.
Step 2: Add your Property URL¶
In the onboarding modal, open Add Property URL and enter the starting URL for your site.
- Include the full scheme:
https://yourstore.com(not justyourstore.com) - Click Continue to save
Why is this required?
Squoosh needs a valid starting URL so synthetic shoppers have a consistent entry point for experiments (both Theme Tests and URL Tests).
Step 3: Link a GA4 property¶
In the onboarding modal, open Link GA4 Property:
- Select the GA4 property associated with your site
- Select your key event (conversion). If available, Squoosh defaults to
purchase. - Click Continue
GA4 linking is required so Squoosh can calibrate synthetic shoppers to your real traffic.
Why does Squoosh need GA4?
GA4 helps Squoosh model realistic shopper behavior (traffic mix, device distribution, funnel behavior), so experiment results better reflect your real audience.
Next steps¶
- Calibrate Synthetic Shoppers
- Enable theme experiments (Shopify install, required for Theme Tests)
- Run an experiment
Troubleshooting¶
- No GA4 properties found: Ask a GA4 admin to grant you access (Viewer or higher), then sign in with that Google account.
- Wrong account: Use “Use different account” in the GA step (it signs you out and returns you to login).
- Property URL won’t save: Ensure it starts with
http://orhttps://and is a valid URL.
